One of my tasks whilst I was in Northumberland was to test the behaviour of the different types of transparency film, particularly Fuji Astia. In order to stress the film, I decided to try the different films on a photograph I was taking of a sunrise near the Wynding, Bamburgh. The Combination of intense reds, oranges and yellows and the blue skies showed that Astia produced some very nice results but it also showed why Velvia is still the king of films. The colours were vibrant and were as close to my recollection as any of the films I had tried. The real reason for the photograph being taken was the intense reflections from the water as it washed around the outcrop. Have a look at the original, full size version.
