Lochan Na h'Achlaise is a wondrous, magical place. It's the birth place of some of the UK's most recognisable photographs. Most shots of the Lochan include either 'That Tree' (pictured elsewhere here) or the Black Mount in the background. I wanted to get a little more abstract but still include the mist, reeds and amazing stillness. The spiders web was an aspect in this picture that I wanted to capture (you might want to view large to appreciate it fully) and the exposure had to be high key in the water but still showing the outline of the hills.
Whilst I was framing and trying to get focus right (slight rear tilt needed) I heard a very loud baying noise that nearly had me knocking over the camera. I came out from under the darkcloth to find three deer, a stag and two does, about 80ft from me.. A spooky noise heard before sunrise on a desolate moor.
This is one of my first shots and yet still one of my favourites..
