Twisteton scar in the winter is a bleak place. On this occasion the sun was still up but it was already three degrees below zero. The wind must have reduced this by another five or six degrees so taking a long time setting up was not a good idea. At the time all I could think of is that the pavement areas looked like the lobes of a great brain and so chose an area of the picture that emphasised this (do other photographers have wierd thoughts like this?). Just as I was taking the shot, the sun descended into a sort of haze sitting on the horizon where it started to change into a deep red colour. I've seen this effect over the dark peaks before and must find out what is causing it.
Anyway - the final picture drops away niceley to the horizon, picking up cairn and the distant Keld Head Scar. I must explore around this area more..
