Whilst walking in the grounds of Glencoe hospital (below the Pap) I saw a tree with a profusion of ferns growing out of it. However I worked to make a photograph out of the tree, there was always something not satisfying about it. Eventually I realised that I could use the fern tree as background to another photograph, with the dark shadows of the bottom of the tree allowing the fronds of the larger ferns to show up more clearly (and luckliy sweeping across the frame at a similar angle). I'm still not sure the photograph works completely as the tree branches in the background are a little too messy but as my first 'fern' experience, I'm fairly happy.
